According to the law "On elections of President of Turkmenistan", the country's Central Election Commission (CEC) will take stock of the presidential election no later than three days, the official Turkmen source reported.

Voting in the next presidential election began at 8:00 AM local time on Sunday, which will operate up to 8:00 PM . In general, 2307 polling stations opened, of which 29 - at overseas diplomatic missions in Turkmenistan.

2,987,324 people appear in the voters lists. The elections are followed by 2340 national observers and 63 observers from the CIS Observation Mission.

The relevant article of the law "On elections of the president" saya that the CEC on the basis of the protocols of election commissions of provinces (regions), etraps (districts), towns and district election commissions, sums up the election of President of Turkmenistan not later than three days after the voting, and forms the protocol, signed by the CEC Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Secretary and members.

The report on the outcome of presidential elections in Turkmenistan is transmitted by the CEC to make public (published) in the mass media not later than three days from the date of signing the protocol on the outcome of the election.

The report on the election results and information about the chosen President of Turkmenistan to be officially published by the Central Election Commission not later than seven days after the election.

The report shall include: the total number of citizens included in voter lists, the number of voters who participated in the voting, the number of votes cast for each candidate, the number of invalid ballots and last name, first name, place of employment, position (occupation) and place of residence of elected president of Turkmenistan.

The Act provides for a re-election procedure.

If the election ran for three or more candidates and none of them was elected, the CEC decided to hold a second vote for two candidates who received the most votes.

Electoral commission have to inform the voters about taken decision. Second round of the voting shall be held not later than two weeks after the general elections in accordance with law.
