Minister of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan Colonel General Ramil Usubov received British Ambassador to Azerbaijan Peter Bateman on Tuesday, the Ministry's press-service told Trend today.
Mr Usubov spoke about the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, areas of activities, socio-political life in the country in the first years of independence and at present.
He noted as a result of taken measures socio-political stability in the country was restored, criminogenic situation was taken under control and favourable conditions for residence and work in conditions of security and calm for the Azerbaijani citizens and foreigners were created.
The minister also presented information on adoption of laws based on democratic principles and regulating activities of the police, on work carried out in connection with new personnel's abiding by new legislation.
The minister also noted some problems. He stressed need of joint struggle against organized crime and its separate forms worrying the whole world.
Mr Usubov also spoke about the active participation of experts from the UK in various regions of Azerbaijan in seminars in the framework of "Police and Human Rights" program in cooperation with the Council of Europe and the participation of employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan in events held in the UK.
The Ambassador thanked for the warm welcome and for the information.
He noted he witnessed the rapid development of Azerbaijan and Baku, while a number of developed countries are experiencing economic crisis.
The Ambassador said that during his diplomatic career he will make all efforts to further deepen the existing relations between the countries.
