As a result of complex operational activities undertaken by the Ministry of National Security (MNS) of Azerbaijan, a group of people accused of transportation from Iran to Azerbaijan by smuggling a large quantity of firearms, ammunition and other military supplies, as well as a huge number of drugs, was arrested and revealed, the Ministry's center for Public Relations told Trend on Thursday.
Citizens of Iran - Nasir Abdi, Ali Dalir, citizens of Azerbaijan - Gabil Khubaliyev, Ruslan Mammadov, Arzuman Murshudov, Niyamaddin Lalayev and others entered into criminal connection in the form of a group of persons held in preliminary collusion, illegally purchased firearms, ammunition and large amounts of narcotics for sale, brought it from Iran to Azerbaijan, bypassing customs, violating protected state border.
The Main Investigation Department of the MNS began criminal case under Art. 206.3.2 (smuggling, that is moving on a large scale across the customs border of the Azerbaijan Republic of commodities or other items by a group of persons by prior collusion), 234.1 (illegal purchase or possession without intent to sell of narcotics or psychotropic substances in quantities exceeding those necessary for personal consumption ), 234.4.2 (repeated unlawful acquisition or possession without intent to sell of narcotics or psychotropic substances in quantities exceeding those necessary for personal consumption), 234.4.3 (illegal acquisition or possession without intent to sell of narcotics or psychotropic substances in quantities exceeding those necessary for personal consumption), 228.2.1 (illegal purchase, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of firearms, component parts, ammunition (other than smooth-bore hunting weapon and ammunition), explosives or explosive devices by a group of persons by prior collusion), 228.4 (illegal purchase, sale or carrying of gas weapons, edged weapons, including missile weapons, except for those areas where the carrying of knives is an accessory of national dress, or due to hunting) and 318.2 (acts provided for in Article 318.1 of this Code, committed repeatedly or by a group of persons by prior collusion or an organized group or with the use of violence or threat of violence) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
Nasir Abdi, Ali Dalir, Gabil Khubaliyev, Ruslan Mammadov, Arzuman Murshudov, Niyamaddin Lalayev, Vadim Ganiyev were brought in as defendants, they were arrested by court order.
