Cooperation between the Azerbaijani and Columbian parliaments has been discussed today in Baku.

Chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament Oktay Asadov has today met with chairman of the second constitutional committee of the Columbian Senate, Senator Alejandra Moreno Piraquive. Asadov stressed that Azerbaijan is interested in developing the ties
with Colombia.

He said that mutual visits, meetings are important to develop the relations between the two countries.

Asadov said that he hoped that Piraquive's visit will give an impetus to all-round development of bilateral relations.

The decision on Nagorno-Karabakh taken by the Columbian Senate and in particular the recognition of Khojaly genocide once again showed that, sooner or later the truth will prevail and justice will be restored.

Asadov has awarded Piraquive with an honorary medal of the Azerbaijani Parliament.

Piraquive stressed that these visits create opportunities for the development of bilateral relations in all spheres.

While stressing that both countries have the problem with refugees, the senator added that the decision on Khojaly genocide taken by Colombia reflects reality.

The senator stressed the importance of opening the embassies in the two countries to further develop the relations.

The sides exchanged the views on prospects of developing the relations between Azerbaijan and Colombia, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and other issues.
