Deputy chairman and executive secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party Ali Ahmadov received a delegation consisting a group of senators of state Mississippi.
At the meeting, Ahmadov said about friendship and partnership established between Azerbaijan and the U.S.
"We believe that Americans are friends and we are confident that in the U.S. there are people who think that Azerbaijan is their friend," - he said.
Ahmadov said that the development of relations between Azerbaijan and the United States play an important role not only at the regional level, but in the world.
Executive Secretary of the ruling party, informing guests about the damage that hit region of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, said a big role of the U.S. in the mediation in solving of the conflict. "It's been 20 years occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijani territories, more than one million Azerbaijanis were driven from their lands and homes," he added.
The head of the U.S. delegation, Senator of Mississippi noted that the cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States, especially in the energy sector has reached a high level. Stressing that the first time they visited Baku in 1999, the senator added that over the past years Azerbaijan had a rapid development path, noting the ongoing large-scale reconstruction of Baku.
He also noted that informed about issue of Azerbaijan, and believes that the issue will be resolved soon.
The meeting was also attended by deputy executive secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party Siyavush Novruzov and MP Asaf Hajiyev.
