As part of the jubilee program dedicated to the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Georgia and Japan, Tbilisi will host the festival of Japanese films.

According to the Embassy of Japan, the festival will be held on August 3-5 at the Rustaveli cinema in Tbilisi.

'Haru's Journey' which was filmed in Miyagi Prefecture will open the festival. It is here that on March 11, 2011 a devastating earthquake and tsunami took place. The movie was filmed before the tragedy, but the themes raised in it will make viewers think about the many issues of life.

The opening ceremony of the festival and the film will be attended by Ambassador of Japan to Georgia Masaeshi Kamohara.

On August 4-5 the Festival will show "Quartet". Its filming was underway, when the earthquake occurred. Hundreds of Japanese volunteers helped to complete the work on the film.
