Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari will visit Azerbaijan to attend the Organization of Economic Cooperation summit.

The working visit is scheduled for October 15-18, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Pakistan Dashgin Shikarov told Trend on Tuesday.

The Pakistani president is expected to meet with the Azerbaijani leadership during the visit.

The Pakistani president will be accompanied by the country's foreign minister, who will represent the country at a meeting of foreign ministers of the organization, which will be held on the eve of the summit.

According to the Ambassador, accredited also in Afghanistan, the country's president, Hamid Karzai, is also expected to attend the summit.

Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) is a regional intergovernmental economic organization established in 1985 by the countries of Central Asia and the Middle East and is the successor of Regional Cooperation for Development, which acted on the basis of the Charter- the Izmir Treaty, signed by three founding countries - Iran, Pakistan and Turkey on March 12, 1977.
