President of Azerbaijan receives delegation led by Governor of Russia’s Volgograd region

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on Monday received a delegation led by the Governor of the Volgograd region of the Russian Federation Sergey Bozhenov. The Head of State congratulated Sergey Bozhenov on his appointment as a Governor of Volgograd Region of Russia and wished him success in his future endeavors.
The President expressed his satisfaction with the successful development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation, the role of individual subjects of the RF, including the Volgograd region, in the development of relations between the two countries.
The Head of State expressed confidence that the visit of the Governor of Volgograd region Sergey Bozhenov to Azerbaijan will give an impetus to bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Volgograd region.
Recalling the time when he was a mayor of Astrakhan, Sergey Bozhenov, for his part, thanked President Ilham Aliyev for contribution to the development of this city. Qualifying the construction of schools, a park, a monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev and a bridge in Astrakhan as a concrete example of close ties between Azerbaijan and Russia, the guest said that for many years they will strengthen cooperation and friendship.
Sergei Bozhenov said that the residents of Volgograd still remember the visit of Heydar Aliyev to Volgograd. He stressed that they also remember twice Hero of the Soviet Union General Hazi Aslanov and Hero of the Soviet Union Khidir Mustafayev who have displayed heroism fighting in Volgograd (then Stalingrad) and other fronts against fascism.
