Head of the Kurdistan Autonomy of Iraq Massoud Barzani called on Ankara to normalize relations with Baghdad, the administration's official website reported.

"Turkey is an important country at the international level, and we hope that its relations with Iraq will be normalized soon," Barzani said.

According to the head of the Kurdish administration, at present there are a lot of problems in the region, but they should be solved peacefully.

Tension is observed in relations between Iraq and Turkey in the recent years. Earlier, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said that Turkey is becoming an enemy to all states in the region because of its attempts to "dominate in it" and "to intervene in the affairs of its neighbors".

In response, Erdogan said Iraq should sort out its internal problems, and then accuse the neighboring countries of hostility.

After Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu's visit to Kirkuk in August this year, the Council of Ministers of Iraq has decided to revise its relations with Turkey.
