Azerbaijan, Baku, Oct.1 / Trend /

Some Russian media outlets, in particular "RIA Novosti" agency recently reported about alleged agreements on extending a lease agreement of the Gabala radar station, which states that the parties are close to concluding a new contract for a term of three years with the same financial conditions (rent of $7 million per year), an informed source told Day.Az.

The parties failed to reach an agreement despite the fact that Baku's repeatedly stated position to increase rent of the Gabala radar station from $7 million to $300 million per year is quite grounded and corresponds with today's realities. Russian news agencies' continued unfounded speculative publications (various thoughts, opinions of certain experts) on the subject are nothing more than an attempt to politicize this commercial agreement, the source said.

If Moscow decides to continue use of the Gabala radar station, Baku is ready to provide this opportunity on the rental basis for another 3 or 5 years, but on a new rent.
