Construction of a new customs checkpoint on the Iran-Azerbaijan border will lead to development of the region, head of the Economic Affairs Committee of the Iranian Parliament Arsilan Fathipur said on Wednesday, the Iranian news agency IRNA reported.
It is necessary to accelerate the work in the free economic zone, which will be created in in the village of Gulubeyli on the Iran-Azerbaijan border, Fathipur said.
"Building of a bridge between the two countries and the activities of the customs checkpoint will accelerate the development of trade relations between Iran and Azerbaijan," he said.
Earlier, Director of free economic zone and the organization of trade zone Araz Sadiq Necati informed about the construction of the new Chamber of Commerce in the village of Gulubeyli on the Iran-Azerbaijan border.
The customs checkpoint provides entry and exit of the passengers and international transportation, he said.
Hotels and guest houses, customs office, offices, indoor and Uncovered warehouses, offices, retail businesses, building for the activities of financial and credit institutions will be constructed in the frame of the first phase of Gulubeyli free economic zone, Necati said.
Iranian Gulubeyli is situated opposite the Horadiz village of Azerbaijani Fizuli region.
