Egyptian Prime Minister Hisham Kandil arrived in the Gaza Strip to express the solidarity of Egypt with the Palestinians, Al Jazeera TV channel reported.

Kandil's visit to Gaza, which is being made on the instruction of Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi, will last for several hours.

Earlier Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the country intends to suspend military operations in the Gaza Strip during Egyptian Prime Minister Hisham Kandil's visit there.

The Israeli Air Force carried out attacks today, the second day of operations in the Gaza Strip, aimed at about a 100 targets and killing three members of the HAMAS movement's military wing, bringing the total number of killed Palestinians to at least 11.

Operation Pillar of Cloud has been a large scale operation carried out over the past four years. Tanks and naval ships are involved in the shelling of Gaza in addition to planes. Representatives of the Israeli political leadership and military command do not rule out a land invasion.

Last time Israel brought ground troops into the enclave was in the winter of 2008-2009. Then the victims of the operation amounted to about 1400 Palestinians.
