There is enough basis for the expansion and development of the economic, political and cultural ties between Azerbaijan and Latvia, Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov said at the event, held in Baku on the occasion of Independence Day of Latvia.
He noted that petrochemicals products were sent from Sumgait to Latvia during the period of the Soviet Union, but supplies were halted after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Hasanov expressed confidence that cooperation between Latvia and Azerbaijan will continue to develop.
Latvian Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis, in turn, said that today comprehensive cooperation, not only in politics but also in the economic sphere is developing between Azerbaijan and Latvia.
