The president is not going to remain silent whilst Georgian statehood is being destroyed. This was said by Mikheil Saakashvili at a meeting with teachers and students of the Abkhazian State University.

"I would like to respond to the latest developments. You know that Chakhalyan, who is very dangerous, has been released from the prison. This was followed with mixed reactions. They attacked us, claiming that if he was such a dangerous state criminal, why was not he convicted of separatism?

Excuse me, but this parliament pardoned members of the military rebellion, Russian spies, and you think they wouldn't add the separatists into the list? Of course, they would. Then they would have made a political hero out of him. They also say: Why do you think that by putting someone in prison, we can solve any problem? I'll tell you what we have done in recent years for Javakheti. We did several important things. People often say that Chakhalyan became a hero because of me. I want to say that all these years we have been building the Georgian state there and it didn't bother anyone. The region didn't even have any roads, we constructed them. To avoid the deadlock, we have built a road that connected Javakheti with Batumi," Saakashvili said.
