In the event of resignation of Egyptian President Mohammed Mursi, no one can retain power, the deputy head of Egypt's ruling "Freedom and Justice" party, Isam Uryan said, Masravi newspaper reported on Tuesday.

According to Uryan, all political forces have the right to conduct peaceful demonstrations.

"The clashes taking place in some provinces may be referred to as coup attempts and refusals of democracy," Uryan said.

On Sunday evening in connection with riots in several major Egyptian cities, Egyptian President Mohammed Mursi declared a state of emergency in three provinces - Port Said, Suez and Ismailia, and introduced curfews in the provincial capitals of these regions.

Mursi also called on all political forces in the country to take part in dialogue ''to achieve stability and security.''

Despite the call for dialogue, the opposition in Egypt has refused to engage in dialogue with President Mursi.
Clashes continue in Egyptian cities between protesters and police guarding government offices and police stations.

The riots began on Friday on the second anniversary of Egypt's 25 January Revolution, under the commonplace street slogans "abrogation of the Constitution" as well as other appeals.

Against the background of political unrest in Egypt, residents of Port Said province declared independence.

Last night, tens of thousands took to the streets to protest the state of emergency in the province.
