Deepening relations with neighbouring countries is a priority of the new Georgian government's foreign policy, Georgian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Teimuraz Sharashenidze said at a press conference on the review of the first 100 days of Georgia's new government on Friday.
The visits of Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili to neighbouring countries after he came to power were a striking proof of this, he said.
On February 5, Bidzina Ivanishvili summarised the work of the government during the first 100 days after the victory of his party in the October elections.
The Georgian leader made his first visits to Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey.
Sharashenidze said another important area in foreign policy is Georgia's integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures.
"Georgia strives to fulfil the main priorities of the EU Eastern Partnership programme's 'Roadmap' before the next summit in Vilnius on November28-29 2013.
Restoring relations with Russia is one of the main goals of the new government, the ambassador said.
He said bilateral relations with Russia will be continued and the Russian market is already opening for agricultural products and wine from Georgia.
"The Geneva talks remain the main platform to discuss security issues with Russia, mechanisms of stability and the return of IDPs to their lands," Sharashenidze said.
