The government was informed in advance about upcoming provocations in Turkey, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said today, Turkish newspaper Sabah reported.

Erdogan added that the protests in Turkey are connected with the external forces.

He also added that the government did not expect that the reconstruction of the Gezi park will be an occasion for provocation.

The protests against the reconstruction of the Gezi park on Taksim Square in Istanbul lasted for 10 days.

Earlier, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said during a press conference in Tunis that the representatives of terrorist groups who organized the attack on the U.S. embassy in Ankara are among the organizers of the protests in the country.

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said that the damage from the protests in Turkey hit over 70 million lira.
