The fourth Congress of the Democratic Reform Party has been held in Baku today. While delivering a report at the congress on Saturday, chairman of the Democratic Reform Party Asim Mollazade spoke about Azerbaijani domestic and foreign policy, strategic objectives and future plans of the party.

"After gaining independence, the international pressure was exerted on Azerbaijan," he said. "The certain forces attempted to strike a blow at Azerbaijan's independence."

"The occupation of Azerbaijani lands is a great tragedy for our people," he said. "The main aim was to destroy Azerbaijan. The reasons of the pressure exerted on Azerbaijan have been associated with the culture and values of the country. Despite the country's future was under the threat during those years, today's economy is being developed in Azerbaijan."

Mollazade also touched on the issues related to the organizations of the civil society and the integration of young people into the world community.

He added that this factor will allow examining Europe's political system and legislation.

"My party has always put forward the cultural factor, namely, culture of governance and political culture, in the foreground," he said. "While demonstrating the values to the world, Azerbaijan gains supporters and at the same time proves the uniqueness of the Azerbaijani people and creates a positive image of the country."

He also spoke about the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He stressed that today the negotiation process has been completely broken.

Mollazade stressed that the problem can be solved only by peaceful means.
"Today, the Armenians refuse from the negotiations," he said. They act as their masters want. "Unfortunately, this occupation is supported by several countries. Taking this into account, I believe that this issue must be resolved peacefully."

Then the report of the Central Auditing Commission was heard and its members were elected. Mollazade once again was elected chairman of the Azerbaijani Democratic Reform Party.
