From now on, all projects in Istanbul will be carried out only with the consent of the inhabitants of this province, Istanbul mayor Kadir Topbas told reporters on Thursday, Hurriyet newspaper reported.

From now on, all projects in Istanbul will be carried out only with the consent of the inhabitants of this province, Istanbul mayor Kadir Topbas told reporters on Thursday, Hurriyet newspaper reported.

"While even moving the bus stop, from now on we will work only with the consent of the residents," Topbash added.

According to the mayor, the Istanbul administration's losses as a result of demonstrations hit 60 million lira.

Protests have been continuing in Turkey for more than 20 days. According to the authorities, they are anti-government. Turkey's opposition parties accuse the police of using excessive force against protesters.

Earlier, Turkish Interior Minister said an investigation is underway in connection with the use of excessive force against protesters.
