Azerbaijan is an example to the world in regards to multiculturalism and tolerance, chairman of the Foundation for Culture and Peace of the Club of Madrid, former Director General of UNESCO, Federico Mayor Zaragoza said during a meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov in Baku on Tuesday.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the establishment and the development of relations between the Azerbaijani government and the Club of Madrid which is an independent non-commercial organization. It was stressed that relations must be further strengthened, the Foreign Ministry added.
Mammadyarov appreciated the recent conference held in Baku on the initiative of the Club of Madrid and the Nizami Ganjavi International Centre and expressed confidence that the memorandum of cooperation will contribute to the development of bilateral relations.
Zaragoza praised the place of women in Azerbaijani society and the society's gender equality.
