Turkish police has never moved beyond the democracy in its actions and hasn't done anything illegal, Turkish Interior Minister Muammer Guler said, Anadolu agency reported on Thursday.

"The police didn't take any illegal measures during the events that took place in Gezi Park. The police acted within the authorities provided by the legislation," Guler said.

According to the Minister, during the recent events in Turkey, provocative actions were committed against the police, to which they did not succumb.

Protests had been taking place in Turkey for nearly three weeks. According to the authorities the protests had anti-governmental character.

Oppositional parties in Turkey accuse the police of using excessive force against the protestors.

As a result of the unrests in Turkey nearly 4,000 people got traumas of varying severity, 5 died and 4,900 were detained by the police.
