Azerbaijan, Baku, Aug. 14 / Trend M. Aliyev /

At a time when Azerbaijan has started the process of nominating the candidates for the presidential elections, the National Council's search for a candidate says the opposition is not ready for elections, having completely lost faith in itself, and citizens do not support the opposition, the deputy chairman and executive secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party Ali Ahmadov said on Wednesday.

According to him, Rustam Ibrahimbayov is not a good presidential candidate.

"Neither his age nor political experience and irresponsibility allow him to participate in a major campaign. The fact that a man with so many legal problems talks about participation in the election campaign demonstrates his irresponsibility.

"Apparently, the opposition cannot find a candidate for the elections. They are aware of the fact that the citizens of Azerbaijan will not support one of them as a candidate. They thought that perhaps Rustam Ibrahimbayov would be supported given he is a director, but it is not enough to be a director in order to become the country's president," Ahmadov said.

He said that the person willing to become the president must win the trust of the people, have political experience, and the voters need to see that he will be able to lead the country in the future.

"The claims of a person deprived of all these qualities to participate in the elections imply nothing, but deceiving the people," the deputy chairman of the party said.
