The Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States is an effective platform for mutual support of member countries in the international arena, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister attended the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Council in New York during the 68th Session of the UN General Assembly, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry press service reported on Monday.
During the meeting, the Azerbaijani minister informed the participants about Azerbaijan's activities in the sphere of expanding the organisation's role and development of its activity.
Mammadyarov also expressed gratitude to member countries for their support in issues related to the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The foreign minister also stressed Azerbaijan's support for the initiative to establish the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation under the auspices of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States.
