Azerbaijani President visits Sumgayit

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today visited the city of Sumgayit.
The Head of State started his visit by placing flowers at a monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev in the city center.
Head of the City Executive Authorities Eldar Azizov informed the President about what had been done to boost socio-economic development of Sumgayit, one of the biggest industrial centers of the country.
Ilham Aliyev then attended the opening of the newly overhauled Sumgayit City Hospital No 1.
Azerbaijani President met local residents, the hospital staff, and toured the hospital.
Health Minister Ogtay Shiraliyev said that the 225-bed hospital was provided with modern medical equipment.
The Head of State then inspected the redevelopment work in the square in front of the Sumgayit City Cultural Center.

President of the State Oil Company (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev briefed the Azerbaijani leader on the redevelopment work at the square.
President Ilham Aliyev also inspected reconstruction work at the Cultural Center.
The President familiarized himself with the work done in the Heydar Aliyev Park.
As part of the visit to Sumgayit, the Head of State attended the opening of the "Saglam qida" agro-industrial complex.
Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev informed the President about the complex.
President Ilham Aliyev launched the facility, and viewed the production process. The President then inaugurated a mill complex and a grain storehouse.
Later, President Ilham Aliyev attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park.
SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev briefed the Azerbaijani leader on the park, which covers social and industrial zones.
The Head of State met the construction workers, and wished them success. President Ilham Aliyev then attended the opening of a metal pipe plant in Sumgayit.
The President launched the plant and viewed the production process.
