Azerbaijan and Iran are continuing consular activity in connection with Iranian citizen Bahram Feyzi arrested in Azerbaijan, spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry Marzia Afkham said at a press conference on Tuesday, İRİNN TV channel reported.

"Iran is keeping this issue under control," he said. "The country is in touch with Azerbaijan regarding this matter and has consulted with the Azerbaijani embassy in the country."

Afkham said efforts on Feyzi's release are underway.

"Tehran and Baku are paying special attention to this issue," she added.

Bahram Feyzi is charged upon Article 276 (espionage), 214 (terrorism), 206 (smuggling) and 234 which is illegal manufacturing, purchase, storage, transportation, transfer or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or precursors, under the Azerbaijani Criminal Code.

Bahram Feyzi, who is a member of the Iranian secret service (ETTELAAT), intended to undermine the Israeli embassy in Azerbaijan. He was arrested by representatives of the Azerbaijani Ministry of National Security on March 29, 2013, according to the investigation files.
