Azerbaijani president receives new OIC Secretary General
Baku, Azerbaijan, March 5
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has today received Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad bin Amin Madani.
The head of state congratulated Iyad bin Amin Madani on his election as secretary general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The president praised the fact that Iyad bin Amin Madani visited Azerbaijan after being elected secretary general, describing this as a good sign of cooperation.
President Ilham Aliyev said Azerbaijan was actively cooperating as part of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, expressing hope this cooperation would continue to develop.
Iyad bin Amin Madani thanked Azerbaijan for supporting his election as the OIC secretary general.
Azerbaijani president and the OIC secretary general discussed ways of developing cooperation between the country and the organization.
They stressed the importance of cooperation among the member states in a variety of fields, including economy, science, education and culture.
Azerbaijan president and the OIC secretary general also emphasized that it was very important that Muslim countries had a common position on the global processes.
