The necessary work is being conducted to return Azerbaijani citizens home whose passports were burned during the bus accident in the city of Ardabil, the Azerbaijani Consulate General in Tabriz told Trend on April 14.

"These Azerbaijani citizens are now on the border," spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry in Iran's Ardebil province Bahruz Zae Mirzae told Trend on April 14. "The work on their rapid return home is underway."

The bus with Azerbaijani pilgrims traveling to Karbala burned out on the Serchem - Ardabil highway. There were 29 Azerbaijani citizens who were returning from Mashhad. Nine Azerbaijani citizens' passports were burned.

The representative office of Iran's Foreign Ministry in Ardabil and the Azerbaijani Consulate General in Tabriz conducted the necessary work to return these individuals home.

The bus with Azerbaijani pilgrims returning home from the Iraqi city of Karbala, burned in Ardabil, ISNA agency reported earlier.

Some 41 people were injured in this accident, spokesman for the Iranian Red Crescent Society Hussein Derahshan said.

Four people were seriously injured and they were hospitalized. Some 37 people suffered slight injuries and underwent outpatient examination.
