Iran wants to have strong Azerbaijan among its neighboring countries and there are no restrictions for military cooperation with it, Iran's First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri said at a meeting with Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov, official website of Iran's presidential administration reported on April 15.

"Iran attaches great importance to the development of the relations with its neighbors in its foreign policy," Jahangiri said. "Azerbaijan has a special place among the neighboring countries."

He stressed that the economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran is not at the proper level.

"It is necessary to use the entire potential for expanding the trade ties between Tehran and Baku," he said. "The obstacles hampering them must be examined."

Azerbaijani Defense Minister stressed that the visit to Iran was held at a high level and in a sincere atmosphere.

Hasanov said that the two countries have the potential for the development of military cooperation and the two countries are like-minded countries in regional and international issues.
