Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev congratulated the newly-elected President of the Council of the European Union (EU), Donald Tusk on Sept.1 on the occasion of his election to this post.
"I heartily congratulate you on the occasion of your election as president of the Council of the European Union. We attach great importance to relations and overall cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union," President Aliyev said in his message.
"The expansion of our relations day by day under the Eastern Partnership initiative is reassuring. I am confident that we will continue our joint efforts towards broadening Azerbaijan's cooperation with all bodies of the European Union. I wish you good health, happiness and success in your responsible activity."
