Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept.27
Azerbaijan's opposition party, Musavat, has elected new head, Arif Hajili, on Sept. 27.
The election was held within the VIII Congress of the party.
Originally, four candidates were nominated for the post - Arif Hajili, Gubad Ibadoglu, Tural Abbasli and Sahavet Alisoy.
However, during the congress Alisoy withdrew his candidacy in favor of another candidate, Gubad Ibadoglu.
According to the changes made in the charter of the party in 2001, the head of the party can not be re-elected for more than two terms. The rule prevented Isa Gambar from putting forward his candidacy.
According to the vote results, Arif Hajili was elected as the new head of Musavat party.
