Consequences of double standards

By Elchin Mehdiyev - Trend:

The deep crisis in the world's system of international relations, double standards and dominating interests of large countries over small ones have recently become a great threat to the independence of a number of countries. All this has sharply worsened the socio-economic situation and even prompted some countries to face the threat of extinction from the world map.

Many examples can be cited, namely, "revolutions" called "Arab Spring", "Arab revolution", etc. They were initiated by the people of the Arab countries allegedly for the sake of democracy and their freedom.

These "revolutions" not only didn't provide people with freedom and democracy. On the contrary, they put these countries in a difficult situation, leading to clashes, chaos, terror acts, killing dozens of innocent people daily, fragmentation of the countries, transferring the internal control of the country to the individual terrorist groups.

Finally, this also led to these countries being turned into military training grounds. That is, as a result of these "revolutions", such conditions were created in these countries which they will fail to overcome within decades.

If these peoples knew what dirty interests, what troubles are behind this "democracy" and this "freedom", they would have never fallen for these revolutions. They were caught in the net of big powers without knowing it. Demanding freedom and democracy, they lost what they had.

How could these nations know that freedom, of which they dreamed, will bring them death and great losses?

What is happening today in Iraq and Syria is indeed a tragedy of humanity.

It would also be appropriate to mention the developments in Ukraine, a country which became a victim of big powers.

Sleeping and freezing on the streets in cold winter months, the Ukrainian people got nothing in return, and on the contrary, lost territorial integrity, internal stability, and its economy began to experience a crisis. Today, Ukraine is a zone of conflict, with no end in sight.

There are many examples to the developments in the world, but, unfortunately, the states, international organizations, which talk about democracy, justice and human rights, are now powerless to stop them.

They are powerless, as each of them pursues its own interests, they do not have a common stance on the fight against terrorism and separatism, and none of them wants to give up its interests for peace and stability and prevention of the death of innocent people.

Today, the struggle for control of large states over the small ones, reached its most disgusting level. It has become common to subject innocent people, children, women and the aged, to death.

As long as superstates hold this position, as long as they kill innocent people for the sake of their dirty intentions, terrorism will not be eradicated in the world, and we will have to witness even more terrible terrorist events.

We must pay tribute to our country in the fact that it was always ready for such actions, took measures in time and didn't allow "democracy", which brings only distress, to enter Azerbaijan.

Thanks to an ingenious and independent domestic and foreign policy pursued by President Ilham Aliyev, big states' dreams to put pressure on Azerbaijan did not materialize. Azerbaijan strengthened its independence even more, internal stability was provided in the country, and a firm basis was created for that.
