Ilham Aliyev receives CISCO senior vice president (PHOTO)
Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 28
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Senior Vice President of CISCO Michael Ganser on November 28.
The president recalled with pleasure his meetings with CISCO Executive Chairman John Chambers in Baku and Davos. President Aliyev hailed CISCO`s active work in Azerbaijan. The president highlighted Azerbaijan`s development, and said the country hosts numerous international events.
President Aliyev emphasized the necessity of continuing long-term cooperation with CISCO. The president said the information and communication technologies sector has always been the key priority of the country`s economy, and pointed to accomplishments in this sector.
“Our goal is to take the leading position in this sector in the region,” said the president.
Ganser said he is in Azerbaijan to attend the 22nd Bakutel exhibition, and highlighted the activity of CISCO`s office in Azerbaijan. Ganser thanked President Aliyev for supporting partnership ties.
He underlined the company`s involvement in several large projects in Azerbaijan, including during the first European Games and Formula One race in Baku.
Ganser hailed the fact that CISCO was chosen to supply equipment and software and also render technical assistance for building a Tier-III data center in Azerbaijan, the first facility of its kind in the Caucasus region.
Ganser also praised Azerbaijan`s accomplishments in digitizing economic and industrial areas.
