Ilham Aliyev re-elected as president of National Olympic Committee (UPDATE 2)

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev has been re-elected as the president of the country’s National Olympic Committee (NOC).
The decision was made during the NOC’s selection meeting on Dec. 1, said Azerbaijani Youth and Sports Minister Azad Rahimov.
“NOC members, attending the conference, elected President Ilham Aliyev as the president of the National Olympic Committee unanimously, willingly and with great happiness,” noted the minister. “On behalf of the sports society, we congratulate the head of state in this regard.”
President Aliyev, who is a true friend of athletes, laid the foundation of current big achievements, said Rahimov, adding that the president greatly supports and helps to develop sports.
President Ilham Aliyev and President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva have been re-elected as members of the Executive Committee of Azerbaijan’s NOC.
Later, members of the NOC’s Audit Committee were elected.
It should be noted that President Ilham Aliyev chairs the National Olympic Committee since 1997.
