President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia James Appathurai.
On behalf of NATO, James Appathurai expressed gratitude for the country’s reliable partnership with the organization. He also thanked Azerbaijan for its great contribution to the peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan.
President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan is committed to supporting international peacekeeping operations in Afghanistan. The president noted that Azerbaijan cooperates with Afghanistan not only within NATO but also on a bilateral basis in various fields, including in the economic and investment spheres.
During the meeting, the sides expressed satisfaction with the cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO, exchanged views on the current state and prospects of negotiations on the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
President Aliyev added that the Armenian side is imitating negotiations.
