Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan sign bilateral military co-op plan (PHOTO)

Azerbaijani defense minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov, who is on a visit to Uzbekistan’s Tashkent city to attend the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Defense of the CIS member states, met with Uzbek Minister of Defense, Major General Abdusalom Azizov, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said in a message on Oct. 12.

Azizov expressed interest in intensification of cooperation between the ministries of defense of the two countries.

During the meeting, the sides discussed a number of issues in connection with the current state and prospects for the development of joint cooperation in the defense sphere and in the field of military education.

The views on strengthening mutually beneficial relations in the sphere of military-technical cooperation were exchanged.

During the meeting it was stressed that Uzbekistan intends to hold joint events with Azerbaijan to exchange experience in military field.

During the talks, an agreement was reached on the participation of Uzbekistan’s military specialists as observers in international exercises to be held in Azerbaijan.

At the end of the meeting, the Plan of Bilateral Military Cooperation for 2019 was signed between the Ministries of Defense of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
