By Elchin Mehdiyev - Trend:
Head of the Azerbaijani community of Azerbaijan’s Nagorno-Karabakh region Tural Ganjaliyev has commented on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s statement that former co-chairman of the OSCE Minsk Group from the US Matthew Bryza is not aware of the issues related to the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Trend reports on Sept. 25.
“It would be better for Pashinyan himself to get acquainted with the Helsinki documents,” he said.
“I reiterate that there are two interested parties in the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,” Ganjaliyev said. “In his statement a few days ago, Pashinyan rebuked Bryza that he was allegedly not aware of the issues related to the conflict. At the same time, he made a destructive statement contrary to the spirit of the negotiations and exaggerated the role of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh as a special party to the negotiations.”
“In response to Pashinyan’s statement, we state that Pashinyan should refresh his memory,” he said. “Obviously, Pashinyan is unaware of the Helsinki documents. If he were aware, he would know that the Azerbaijani community is also an interested party. It means that he has no idea about the processes at all. It would be better for him to get acquainted with these documents than to blame Bryza.”
Ganjaliyev also addressed the Armenian community of Nagorno-Karabakh.
“I urge them to free themselves from the oppression of the criminal junta regime, ruling both in Armenia and in Nagorno-Karabakh region,” he said. “I urge them to get rid of oppression, act towards the settlement and peaceful solution to the conflict. If they can escape from the oppression that they have come under, this will positively affect the negotiations and help the joint peaceful living of the two communities within Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
