Azerbaijani Deputy PM: Youth should be more interested in books (UPDATE)

Special attention should be paid for the youth to be more interested in books in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Chairman and Executive Secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party Ali Ahmadov said.

Ahmadov made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the 6th Baku International Book Fair, Trend reports on Sept. 27.

He stressed that Azerbaijan is indeed a country with great intellectual property.

“Azerbaijan does not imagine its present and future separately from intellectual property,” Ahmadov added. “One can not imagine the development of human capital without books. The holding of a book fair is, above all, an excellent initiative to promote books in Azerbaijan.

“A book is knowledge, culture, and at the same time, it means the development of man and society,” he said. “Society is developing in terms of culture, mentality and economy through books and knowledge. In this sense, love for books is connected with an intention to arouse the desire for knowledge and sciences in society and among people. For a long time Azerbaijan has been a country where interest in science and knowledge. Books played an exceptional role in this sphere.”

Ahmadov added that people in Azerbaijan always liked books, which is very encouraging.

“By reading, young people will gain rich knowledge, their intellectual and cultural levels will increase, their mental outlook will expand and they will become worthy citizens serving Azerbaijan in the future,” he added.

“I think that by strengthening youth’s love for books, society will always move forward,” Ahmadov said. “The Ministry of Culture is organizing good projects to promote book reading in Azerbaijan.”

The grand opening ceremony of the 6th Baku International Book Fair was held in the Baku Sports Palace on Sept. 27.

The Baku International Book Fair, organized by the Ministry of Culture, will be held in the capital of Azerbaijan on September 27-29, 2019.

The prominent public figures, scholars, writers, culture, art, representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in the country, as well as foreign guests attended the opening ceremony.

Among the participants of the event are Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Chairman and Executive Secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party Ali Ahmadov, head of the humanitarian affairs department of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Farah Aliyeva, Ombudsman of Azerbaijan Elmira Suleymanova, TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov and others.
