BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 30. Russia is ready to assist in the signing of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Bocharnikov said at a press conference, Trend reports.
The ambassador stressed that both sides express desire to sign such a document.
“During a certain period of time the sides have been exchanging their vision about possible signing of such a document, which would be based, as I understand, on the principles of international law, the UN Charter and other documents,” Bocharnikov said.
“The issue is to create the most favorable environment for the beginning of such negotiations,” the ambassador said. “Russia supports this approach and is always ready to assist and mediate.”
Bocharnikov said that the statements on restoration of transport relations and other ties, progress on the delimitation and further demarcation of the state border of Azerbaijan and Armenia also envisage the measures of reducing tension.
“These are the tasks for signing a peace agreement,” the ambassador added. “Russia is ready to assist in all these issues.”
