BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. Engineering work continues in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories as a result of the Second Karabakh War, crowned by the victory of the Azerbaijani Army under the command of the Azerbaijan President, Supreme Commander of Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Defense (MoD).
"In order to ensure the safe movement of vehicles, the units and subunits of the engineering troops of the Azerbaijan Army are clearing roads of mines and snow, laying new supply routes to the positions of our units deployed in mountainous and difficult terrain," the ministry noted.
A total of 203 hectares of liberated territories were completely cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance as a result of the activities of the engineering units in March.
Totally area of about 14,600 hectares has been cleared of mines by engineering units in the liberated territories, until today.
"More than 6,000 anti-personnel, more than 2,100 anti-tanks and more than 9,300 pieces of unexploded ordnance were found generally and destroyed. The main efforts are aimed at clearing settlements, agricultural land, roads and infrastructure facilities in the liberated territories, de-mining process and clearance of unexploded ordnance. Other appropriate measures are also being taken for engineering support," the ministry added.
