BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 13. Azerbaijan's State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons, considering the torture against soldier Huseyn Akhundov as a fact of gross violation of the Geneva Conventions of August 12, 1949, strongly condemns this brutality of the Armenian side and demands that the prisoner be treated in accordance with the norms of international humanitarian law, Trend reports via the Commission's statement.
Akhundov was one of the two Azerbaijani soldiers, who went missing on the border with Armenia in the Shahbuz region of Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan.
The State Commission notes that official appeals have been sent to the relevant international organizations with a call to take urgent measures for the speedy release of Azerbaijani soldiers.
