BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 22. It was Azerbaijan’s obligation to ensure the security of its territorial integrity, Burak Akchapar, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye, the country's representative at the UN, said at the UN Security Council meeting, Trend reports.
"We continue to support the peace process with Armenia launched by Azerbaiijan. The signing of a comprehensive peace treaty is crucial for this process," he said.
However, as Akchapar pointed out, over the past three years, the Armenian side has been reluctant to fully implement the trilateral declaration. The illegitimate structure in Khankendi continued its existence, while separatists continued carrying out armed attacks. This is not a way to seek peace.
"After suffering from continuous attacks, Azerbaijan has been left with no choice but to take measures for its own security and stability. In this regard, Azerbaijan has launched an anti-terror measures against illegal Armenian armed forces in Karabakh. Surely, this was not only Azerbaijan’s sovereign right, but an obligation to protect its citizens," he noted.
