BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 29. Germany supports Azerbaijan in reconstruction efforts, Ambassador of Germany to Azerbaijan Ralph Horlemann said on X, Trend reports.
“I saw today the great work of the Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Barda supporting people in Karabakh. Living close to the former Line of Contact has been challenging for many people; the risk of mines still poses a danger in many places. Germany supports Azerbaijan in its reconstruction efforts,” the ambassador's post reads.
Following the liberation of its lands, Azerbaijan began operations in November 2020 to clean its lands of mines, booby traps, and other weaponry left behind by illegal Armenian forces.
During demining operations carried out by the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the State Border Service from May 20 to 26, 2024, in liberated territories, 172 anti-personnel mines, 32 anti-tank mines, and 274 unexploded ordnances were discovered and neutralized. A total of 1,164 hectares of land were cleared of mines.
