BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 16. Armenia has constantly violated the demands of existing international conventions, Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev said during a scientific-practical conference themed "Environmental water violations contributing to climate change" in Nakhchivan today, Trend reports.

"Armenia has grossly violated the 1991 UN Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context (ESPO), the 1992 UN Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes, as well as the obligations arising from the protocols of this convention, including the 'Water and Health' protocol of June 17, 1999," Aliyev added.

Noting that one of the bitter consequences of Armenia's occupation policy against Azerbaijan is the degradation of the country's water resources, the prosecutor general emphasized that as a result, the Azerbaijani population was deprived for years of the rich water resources of Eastern Zangezur.
