BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 16. Armenia's mining industry seriously harmed the environment of Azerbaijan, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Fuad Najafli said during a scientific-practical conference themed "Environmental water violations contributing to climate change" in Nakhchivan today, Trend reports.

He noted that, following Armenia's discharge of toxic waste into the Araz river and the Shir Arkhi canal, hundreds of fish and migratory birds were destroyed.

"The pollution of the Araz river by Armenia continues to this day. This leads to the destruction of fauna and flora in the coastal areas. It can be said that many plants and animals are already threatened with extinction. Recent observations have shown that the water in the river has thickened and changed color. Despite all this, Armenia continues its actions against nature.

Recently, as a result of eco-terrorism in the Sadarak district, fish in the Shir Arkhi canal were also destroyed. Additionally, the injury of a resident who was wounded by a mine explosion in the Shahbuz district is a consequence of Armenia's insidious policy," he added.
