BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 2. Armenia acts as a Trojan horse that drags external forces into the South Caucasus with the aim of destabilization, the Russian State Duma deputy Sergei Markov told reporters, Trend reports.
“The OSCE Minsk Group was established to resolve the Karabakh conflict. Now it has been resolved. The Minsk Group should be dissolved. This is obvious to everyone. Especially since the Minsk Group, to be honest, has derailed its work. It has been walking, wandering, and holding dozens of meetings for 20 years. How much money was spent on the Minsk Group's business trips here? Just imagine what carbon footprint it has left, riding on airplanes and in cars, what damage to nature this OSCE Minsk Group has caused for more than 20 years with its, in fact, personalized, illusory work,” he said.
According to him, the OSCE Minsk Group is a zombie that roams the world political arena.
“It's a political undead that tries all the time to get a seat at the table with real, live organizations and structures. Surely, it should be completely dissolved. What is Pashinyan doing all this for? He is trying to create an illusion of preserving the Karabakh conflict, and at the expense of this he is getting more military aid, and also at the expense of this he is pulling up military missions here, in the territory of the South Caucasus, so that he would be given more weapons, so that there would be military advisers. Eventually, I think, we are talking about the formation of military bases and other military structures, first of all of France, the US, NATO, and the European Union. These are the kinds of plans. These plans can be called very dangerous. I would say that Armenia acts as a Trojan horse, which drags external forces into the South Caucasus for destabilization. This forces all countries of the region - Azerbaijan, Russia, Türkiye, Iran, and even, perhaps, Georgia - to unite to block Armenia's destructive role in the South Caucasus,” he added.
