BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 2. These parliamentary elections will contribute to the further prosperity of Azerbaijan, the member of Pakistan's National Assembly, Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti told reporters, Trend reports.
“We are honored to observe the parliamentary election in Azerbaijan on September 1, 2024, as National Assembly members of Pakistan. The strong familial relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan underpin our role, which we approach with duty and respect. We believe democracy requires free, fair, and transparent elections. We support the Azerbaijani people in pursuing these values,” he said.
According to him, the long-standing relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan are characterized by mutual support and solidarity.
“We are confident that these elections will be another step in strengthening the democratic foundations of Azerbaijan and will contribute to further prosperity and stability of the country,” he added.
To note, extraordinary parliamentary elections were held in Azerbaijan on September 1.
According to preliminary data, voter turnout at the elections amounted to 37.27 percent. The number of voters casting their ballots amounted to 2,196,771. A total of 5,895 polling stations submitted their protocols to the CEC.
A total of 112,749 domestic observers were registered to observe the election. More than 65,000 of them were representatives of political parties.
The number of registered international observers was 598, representing 51 organizations, in 69 countries.
Out of 990 registered candidates in the parliamentary elections, 305 are representatives of 25 political parties. Whereas 371 candidates are members of political parties, they were not nominated by the parties to which they belong. A total of 676 candidates have political party affiliation.
