BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 11. The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan has canceled the recent parliamentary election results at three more polling stations, the source at CEC told Trend.
The CEC's meeting today took a good, hard look at an appeal from an MP candidate hailing from Nasimi-Yasamal constituency No. 22 regarding the parliamentary election.
The meeting noted that during the proceedings, violations were identified during the counting of votes at polling stations No. 2, 14, and 20 of the district, which could affect the election results, and the voting results should be annulled.
The proposal was put to a vote and approved.
The meeting drove home the point that the cancellation of election results in three precincts didn’t throw a wrench in the works for the overall results in the district.
Eight candidates, Asim Mollazade, Khalig Huseynov, Jahandar Ismayilov, Ilgar Mammadov, Khayala Ahmadova, Ilham Aghayev, Adviya Rasullu, and Ramil Shirinov, competed for the right to become MP from this constituency. Mollazade won from this constituency.
To note, the snap parliamentary election was held in Azerbaijan on September 1.
A total of 112,749 local observers were registered, including over 65,000 representatives of political parties. There were 598 international observers from 51 organizations and 69 countries.
Among the 990 registered candidates, 305 represented 25 political parties, while 371 were party members but were not nominated by their parties. In total, 676 candidates were affiliated with political parties.
