BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 20. September 20 is marked in Azerbaijan as the Day of the Cities of Khankendi, Khojaly, Khojavand, and Aghdere, Trend reports.

On September 18, 2024, President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree amending the earlier order on establishing official City Days for the territories liberated from the Armenian occupation.

On September 19, 2023, in response to provocations and terrorist attacks by Armenian armed forces, the Azerbaijani Army implemented local anti-terrorist measures, forcing the separatists to surrender in less than 24 hours.

As a result, the Azerbaijani Army ensured the full implementation of the provisions of the trilateral statement, prevented large-scale provocations in Karabakh, disarmed and removed Armenian armed forces from its lands, and neutralized their military infrastructure. This effort also guaranteed the safety of returning civilians, reconstruction workers, and Azerbaijani servicemen, all while restoring the constitutional order of the country.

Following these events, on September 28, Armenian separatists in Karabakh declared their dissolution.

On October 15, 2023, President Ilham Aliyev raised the Azerbaijani national flag in the cities of Aghdere, Khojavand, and Khojaly, in the town of Asgaran, at the Sarsang Reservoir, and in the city of Khankendi.
