MOSCOW, Russia, October 7. Any attempts to import counterfeit goods into Russia require immediate suppression, the director general of the Caspian Institute for Strategic Studies (Russia) Igor Korotchenko told Azerbaijani reporters in Moscow, Trend reports.

“Any attempts to import counterfeit goods under one or another label into Russia, in my opinion, should be suppressed. We don't need any French products delivered here apart from official channels. I think that Russian customs structures and the structures that are responsible for the quality of food will pay attention to such facts, which may indicate a violation of Russian legislation in this area,” he said.

Korotchenko emphasized that Russia does not kick out any foreign firms.

Recently, there was information that counterfeit Armenian cognac on the Russian market turned out to be French.

Russian experts found in August that almost 90 percent of cognacs from Armenia sold in Russian stores are unsafe and contain alcohol other than grape alcohol.

The counterfeit cognac was found to be from the French concern Pernod Ricard, which has owned the Yerevan Cognac Factory since 1999 and produces under the Ararat brand.

Meanwhile, “Pernod Ricard” announced its withdrawal from Russia in May 2023. However, this did not prevent the French company from continuing to develop the Russian market, albeit through Armenia.
