BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 27. The causes of the crash near Aktau of an AZAL passenger airplane flying Baku-Grozny will provide concrete results in a short time, the General Prosecutor of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev said at today's extended meeting of the board of prosecutor's offices dedicated to discussion of the state of affairs in the spheres of combating crime, investigative work, prosecutor's supervision, and upcoming tasks, Trend reports.
Furthermore, it was noted that in connection with the tragedy, which is the crash near Aktau city as a result of external physical and technical interference in the airspace of Russia of an AZAL passenger airplane flying Baku-Grozny, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev instructed to establish a state commission headed by the Prime Minister to investigate the causes of the incident. On the instructions of the head of state, a criminal case was initiated.
“At present, investigative actions in conditions of cooperation with prosecutor's offices and other relevant bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation to establish the true causes of the incident are continuing, and concrete results will be ensured in the shortest possible time,” he said.
To note, on December 25, 2024, an AZAL passenger plane on a Baku-Grozny flight crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Out of 67 people on board, 38 were dead.
